LM Studio presets or SpiritBox Ultimate: which do you need?
By Ryan, SpiritBox developer · October 20, 2026
If your goal is to reuse the same instructions in several local-AI conversations, start with LM Studio's own presets. You do not need SpiritBox Ultimate for that.
Ultimate is for people interested in evaluating a separate interface that brings reusable Guide instructions, saved conversations and spoken replies together. Here is how to decide which approach fits your task.
What an LM Studio preset does
LM Studio lets you save a system prompt and inference settings as a named preset, then reuse that configuration across chats. Its documentation also describes importing and sharing presets. A preset is a reusable configuration, not a saved answer.
For example, you might save instructions for turning project notes into a handoff. Start with the instructions below and use the preset controls described in LM Studio's official guide.
Download the free handoff preset
Download the handoff preset pack (ZIP). Includes the instruction file and a plain-text copy. No account or purchase required.
Unzip the pack, then use LM Studio's preset dropdown → Import → file. If your version does not accept the JSON, paste the included text into a new preset. App import and model output have not been tested. Review answers against your original notes.
A project-handoff instruction to try
This is a prompt recipe, not a tested model result or an Ultimate demonstration:
Use only the notes I provide. Organize your answer into confirmed decisions, actions, and unresolved questions. For each action, include an owner and deadline only when the notes state them. Otherwise write “not specified.” Keep proposed actions separate from approved actions. Do not invent prices, commitments or completion claims.
Start with fictional notes so you can inspect the answer easily:
Alex will confirm the room booking by October 26. Sam will send invitations after the booking is confirmed. No invitation deadline is set. Catering has a $300 budget, but no purchase has been approved.
Before relying on the answer, check that it preserves the booking deadline, keeps invitations dependent on the booking, leaves the invitation deadline unspecified, and treats the catering budget as a limit rather than an authorized purchase.
Those are review criteria, not claims that a particular model passed. Instructions do not guarantee factual accuracy.
Where Ultimate fits
In SpiritBox, Guides are reusable conversation instructions. The current Ultimate offer combines them with saved chats and spoken replies in a separate application connected to your existing LM Studio model/server.
If reusable instructions already solve your problem in LM Studio, keep using that setup. Consider Ultimate when the combined interface is something you specifically want to evaluate and you are comfortable managing its additional setup. This article does not claim that Ultimate produces better answers than LM Studio.
Check the current offer before buying
SpiritBox Ultimate R6 is Windows Early Access at $199 USD once. It requires Docker Desktop with WSL2/Linux containers and an existing working LM Studio model/server. Models are separate downloads.
The streaming fix passed offline tests using saved text and audio. A fresh R6 real-model run and a separate clean-PC installation remain unverified. It is not a configured, tested n8n, Telegram or ComfyUI workflow bundle.
